Hacker recovers his stolen Power Mac G4 two years later

Stealing someone's computer is not a good idea. From a hacker, even worse.

That's what happened to Melvin Guzman-Rosa, who two years ago stole a Power Mac G4 Quicksilver from a hacker identified by his nickname Zoz. What the criminal did not know was that the computer had a VNC client and a keylogger installed, then everything that was done on the machine could be viewed and recorded remotely by its owner. Yes, believe it or not: he did not format the machine.

Watch the story from 3'15 ”(PDF; 2.9MB) told by the author Zoz, during the DEF CON conference:

Using OpenDNS and capturing information about Guzman-Rosa, Zoz he identified the location where his machine was and, after having a little fun, he sent police officers to retrieve their beloved G4. Happy ending.
