Hacker auctiones 92 million Brazilians data, says website | Downloads

A hacker known as X4Crow is promoting the auctioning of an alleged database containing information about 92 million Brazilian citizens, according to the website Bleeping Computer. The document uses a common database format and may contain information such as CPF, full name, date of birth and mother's name, as well as information about legal entities (under the CNPJ). The source of the data was not revealed, maso portal said he was able to verify the accuracy of the data using the taxpayer search tool of the IRS.

As serious as the data leak itself is the hackers' promise to create a service that would allow anyone to access complete Brazilian information through a simple search. X4Crow guarantees that it is possible to obtain complete data of a person with a simple query using full name or some identifying item, such as phone number or some document.

In many cases, according to X4Crow, the data may include more than one individual's registration information, reaching personal details such as education levels, addresses, e-mail, profession, identification of family members, neighbors and even license plates. Something similar would be possible to search for companies. The hacker claims that a complete search, which can lift all this data, would cost $ 150 (about $ 609, in direct conversion). There is still possibility to conduct the research for $ 100 (approximately $ 406).

The source of this large data volume, which amounts to close to 16 GB, is still a mystery. According to Bleeping Computer, the information would have been obtained directly from government databases. However, the announcement of the auction of dark web forums says that the database contains data from almost all Brazilian citizens, somewhat inconsistent, since the Brazilian population is more than double the 92 million. On the other hand, as Bleeping Computer observes, there are statistics that point to numbers similar to these 92 million people when considering only the economically active population in Brazil that generally has CPF.
