If you thought that the controversy that started a few weeks ago, when users and experts detected that Apple was deliberately and quietly slowing down the performance of old iPhones to preserve their energy capacity, would quickly dissipate, you are quite mistaken.
A series of collective actions by users outraged by the news began to fall into the lap of Apple’s legal department. We have already talked about three, but apparently at least eight lawsuits have been filed by different groups in the United States. But the most recent one draws attention for the amount requested by users: $ 999 billion. Yeah, you didn’t read it wrong.
All the complaining parties start from the same principle: that Apple compromised the performance of its iPhones without prior notice and, therefore, users were forced to invest in new devices due to the company’s conduct. Therefore, according to them, Apple denied the use, utility and value of old iPhones – constituting, they say, a crime.
Of course, it will take a long time before any of these actions come to an end – but I can say right now that the $ 999 billion one, if not filed, will at least see that amount significantly reduced over time. Otherwise, this lawyer can now join the list of the richest people in the world … first!
