Google's new Chromecast Ultra should be based on Android TV

Google's current Chromecast Ultra is already considered by many to be a great streaming device, but if the latest information is correct it looks like its new version may be even better.

The Chromecast line currently available has two models, the standard and the Ultra. At the moment only the standard model is officially available in Brazil and can be found for less than R $ 300. The main difference between the standard model and the Ultra model is that the latter supports videos with resolutions up to 4K (Ultra HD) and with HDR. The standard model only supports videos with resolutions up to 1080p (Full HD).

Now it looks like Google is working on a new version of Chromecast Ultra that would be based on Android TV and not on the Google Cast platform. Android TV is a version of the Android operating system aimed specifically at multimedia devices such as Smart TVs.

This new version would also support 4K video with HDR and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Because it is based on Android TV, the device must also come with a remote control that apparently j has been certified by the FCC in the United States:

The remote control supposedly includes a microphone and dedicated button for Google Assistant and its look vaguely resembles the control of the Daydream View virtual reality device and that of the Apple TV device. The control can also be programmed for the user's TV.

Because it is based on Android TV, the new Chromcast Ultra should also come with apps from services like YouTube TV, Netflix, Disney +, Hulu and others already pre-installed.

It is important to note that the device has not yet been officially announced by Google. With the cancellation of the Google I / O 2020 conference, which would be held in May this year, it is possible that the device will be presented in an online wind in the coming months.
