Google would be less optimistic with approval of Google Maps for iOS

According to The Guardian, sources familiar with Google’s plans to make a Google Maps app available for iOS would not be too optimistic about the possibility of approval by Apple.

“Although the application is in development and could be ready by the end of the year, the sources say that it is ‘unlikely’ that Apple will approve the release of the application to its users,” published the news site.

The sources also said that the problem lies in the lack of any map application with Google APIs in the “Find maps for your iPhone” section that has been featured on the iTunes Store since the public apology from Apple CEO Tim Cook.

And even if Apple approves the application, Google Maps cannot be configured as a standard map service on the iPhone or iPad, being limited to function only as an alternative map for those interested.
