To record images of the Liwa desert in the United Arab Emirates, Google decided to improvise: instead of using cars or backpacks, the Google Street View camera was adapted to work on a camel.
“To bring this stunning desert to Street View, we shaped the Trekker on a camel, which collected images of how he walked. Using camels for collection allowed us to collect authentic images and minimize our interaction in this fragile environment ”, published the company.
