At the end of last year, we followed a great novelty for both customers of the Apple Music, as for owners of Amazon’s Echo speakers: the integration of the streaming musical performance with these devices. Now, the Cupertino giant will be able to further expand its subscriber base by offering support for speakers from another big manufacturer in that market, Google.
This (possible) support was discovered by a reader of MacRumors. He realized that Apple Music appeared among the services of streaming compatible with speakers in the Google Home app. Despite this, it is not yet possible to link an Apple Music account to these devices.
Previously, Apple Music was listed in a separate “limited availability” section of the Google Home app, which stated that the service was only available for iOS devices. Therefore, this update to the app may indicate that Apple and Google are working to release this support soon.
If that’s really the case, once support is released, you can use Google Assistant’s voice commands to play music, playlists and the rest of your Apple Music library on Google’s speakers and other manufacturer’s home devices.
To check this setting, open the Google Home app and go to Settings »Music» Apple Music. If you try to select Apple Music as a music service, the message “Apple Music is your default music provider” may appear – or nothing will happen. ?
We, of course, will follow this expansion of Apple services further and will inform you as soon as the novelty begins to be available to everyone.
Update Feb 27, 2019 at 08:00
After the rebound, Google removed the Apple service of the app options that manages your home devices. Until then, this could indicate a “leak” of the novelty and that it would be launched soon, but this is also not the case.
Google has removed the Apple Music option from the Google Home app. Ooops!

Google removed the Apple Music option from the Google Home app. Ooops!
Then Google reported that showing Apple Music in your app was just a bug software, as the Google Assistant shares some settings with the services of streaming (on Android smartphones) and, due to a failure, the company “accidentally opened the Apple Music controls for the Google Home app”, as Bloomberg.
It seems that it was not this time … but nothing prevents this integration from happening in the near future, given the continuous expansion of Apple’s services to products from other manufacturers.
