Google Portugal will help internationalize seven Portuguese retailers through an acceleration program

This Tuesday Google started a 10-week program that will help seven Portuguese retail companies. The Retail Export Accelerator Program aims to provide resources and tools for growth strategies and for accelerating internationalization processes.

Consisting of eight online sessions with Google specialists in different areas, Continente, Dott, Hma, Lion of Porches, Mr. Blue, PCDIGA and Zippy were selected for the program. During this period, topics related to internationalization processes and industry insights will be addressed, with space for various workshops, sessions with external guests and individual mentoring sessions.

In a statement, Nuno Pimenta, industry head start ups, retail & travel at Google Portugal, guarantees that Portuguese companies have the quality to compete internationally. "With the right tools and strategies, we want this program to help bridge the gap between retail in Portugal and digital export.

But how were these companies chosen? Google Portugal explains that the organizations were selected based on "their strong value propositions and because they have strong teams that will be able to test and adapt their behaviors and strategies".

Throughout the program, various markets will be studied in terms of demand, competition, logistics, payments and other operational issues. Thus, the objective is for each company to choose which markets they want to enter and reach the end of 10 weeks with sales in at least one new market.

At the beginning of the year, Google had already brought to Portugal the first edition of the StartUps Growth Lab. In this case, the program consists of workshops, training and mentoring for Portuguese startups, in order to accelerate growth through the acquisition of new customers and revenue .
