Google Play Store records more downloads … but still the highest revenue from the App Store

What was expected happened: Google Play Store has a higher number of app downloads, surpassing the competing App Store. But since it's not all flowers, the Apple store generated 2.3 times more revenue than the Android market. Good news is that Brazil has risen two positions and ranks fifth among the countries with the highest volume of downloads in the second quarter of this year.

THE Annie Market Index App, The company responsible for the survey reported that the Play Store had 10% more apps downloaded in the second quarter of 2013 than App Store. This number was largely driven by emerging countries such as Brazil, India and Russia.

However, as might be expected, this volume of downloads in the domestic market is linked to game and free apps. Thus, despite the large number of acquisitions by Brazilian users, the country is still far from being a source of revenue for Big G when it comes to Android software. Much of this also comes from Google's stubbornness in democratizing app payment methods in the country.
