Google is offering Mac users who access Google.com the download of Google Chrome.
The browser logo and the phrase “The fastest way to browse the web” are displayed regardless of the browser used by the user or whether or not they are logged into their Google account. Clicking on the “X”, the Chrome offer disappears.
A report released by Net Applications a few days ago suggests that Mac and Linux users helped Chrome to reach the third position among the most used browsers, behind Internet Explorer and Firefox. Coincidentally, the third position was occupied by Apple’s Safari. Currently Chrome has 4.4% of marketshare, while Safari has 4.37%.
In order to reach 10% of marketshare in two years, Google has been investing heavily in Chrome. Browser advertisements were made in newspapers in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
