Google now gives suggestions for movies and series for you to watch

Google now has a tool to help you find your favorite movie

This Wednesday (24) the Google launched a new function that will help a lot of those looking for suggestions of which movie or series they should watch. From now on, the search for the Google start giving suggestions of contents that are in accordance with what the user is looking for.

With the huge amount of options for streaming services and places where you can rent movies to watch without leaving your home, we often spend more time choosing which to be the next movie or series on our list than actually watching it – and in that task that the research of Google wants to help you.

All you need to do is use the search engine Google to look for a type of content that interests you – like romance movies, action movies, comedy series, etc. – and it will not only point you to some films or series of the type you are looking for, but also where these titles can be findings.

For now, the tool offers results from only four providers, with two streaming services per subscription (Netflix and Globopay) and two online rental platforms (Google Play Movies & TV and YouTube). For now, it still leaves out some relatively large providers, such as Amazon Prime Video, The Crunchyroll and the iTunes Store, it's the Google has not revealed whether more services should be made available in the future.

How Google's movie suggestion works

To use the content suggestion function you need to enter the search page of the Google and enter the type of content you're looking for. In the example we will use here, we did a search for the term action films.

The company has not revealed which criteria it uses for the selection, but from the results shown it is possible to note that there is a personalized targeting for each user, since we noticed that the listing is quite different when we do the same search in anonymous way.

This same layout can also be seen in the mobile version of the search Google, where it is possible to note that we achieved exactly the same results, which is another indication that the Google uses the information you have about the user's browsing habits to offer suggestions for movies and series that suit his personal tastes.

In the version for smartphones, Google's suggestions are even more prominent

When choosing a movie from the list, you will be taken to a results page of the chosen content. If you are accessing from the computer, in the left column of the screen you will see a list of common links for searching the Google, like the movie page on Wikipedia. In the left column, in addition to some information about the film itself, you will find indications of where it can be found. In the case of the film The Last Air Master, the page indicates that it can be found in the Netflix or for rent from YouTube or the Google Play Movies & TV.

Already in search from mobile devices, the user is taken to an exclusive page of the film, with a short description of it, the link to a trailer direct from the YouTube and an indication of where it can be found. when selected, your device will automatically open the indicated app. So, if you already have the Netflix installed on your smartphone or tablet and click on the icon Netflix From the movie page, the streaming service application will open and you will be taken directly to play the chosen content.

And, if you're using search Google on mobile devices, you will also have access to the Interest List option. This is an option that does not exist in the Chrome for desktops, and allows you to add any movie to a playlist for quick access. This personalized list can be accessed on the suggestion page of the Google, which in the mobile version has a tab called List of Interests.
