Google Maps reveals memorial in the Sahara desert

The image above is not a simple image but a memorial created by relatives and friends of the victims of an airplane that was shot down by a bomb in 1989.

The terrorist act killed all 155 passengers and 15 crew on board. The memorial was built some 18 years after the tragedy.

Flight UTA 722 had left the People’s Republic of Congo for Paris, France, when an explosion shot down the plane in the Sahara Desert.

To honor those who lost their lives, an association formed by the victims’ families created a giant image of an airplane, using only stones and sand.
