Google Maps gained improvements in sharing routes last Friday (19). The feature, previously exclusive to Android, is now available on the iPhone (iOS). The user can share the location in real time through third-party applications, such as WhatsApp and Messenger. It is also possible to send driving, walking or cycling routes. Live tracking ends automatically when the sender arrives at their destination.

Step 1. After starting a GPS navigation, tap on the time bar and swipe up. Then, go to "Share trip in progress";

Step 2. Choose the contact with whom you want to share the route or select an application, such as WhatsApp, for example. If it is the first use of the feature, tap "Activate";

Step 3. To send the route via WhatsApp, select the desired contacts and tap on the "Next" button. Then confirm by pressing "Submit". The recipient must have the Google Maps app installed on his cell phone to be able to track his travel;

Step 4. The right time icon indicates that the route can be followed by the people with whom you sent the share link. To disable the feature, slide the time bar up and click "Stop sharing".
