Google launches its official keyboard for iOS – for now, unavailable on the Brazilian App Store

Remember the rumor that Google would launch a iOS keyboard focused on searches? We have good news and bad news. Starting with the good: the launch was fast and it already arrived App Store!

Gboard app icon, the Google Keyboard

However, at least for now, it is not available in the Brazilian store because it only supports English. 😢

The Gboard a new keyboard from Google for your iPhone. It has all the things you would expect from a large keyboard GIFs, Emojis, and Glide Typing (write words by sliding your finger across the letters) in addition to the integrated Google Search. No more changing apps; just search and send from the keyboard itself.

Using the keyboard, you can search for nearby stores and restaurants, videos and images, weather forecasts, news and articles, sports scores, and anything else you usually search for on Google.

According to Google, the keyboard was created with the user's privacy in mind. Thus, the company states that when typing on Gboard, it sends the query to Google's web servers so that it can process everything and send back the results. In addition, Gboard sends anonymous statistics that help diagnose problems and what resources are most used by users.

The keyboard stores the words you type to offer help with spelling or to predict searches that you may be interested in, however, according to Google, this data is stored only on your device and cannot be accessed by Google or any other company.

But, as we said, for now there is only support for English. So forget about replacing your iOS official (or any other third party you use) now unless you live in an English-speaking country or write a lot in the language during the day.

Looking at the history of Google as a truly global company, however, I believe it will not be long before it will be available in several countries. The keyboard promises, so let's hope it happens soon.
