The launch comes a week after the date originally planned for the official announcement of the successor to Android 10 – the event was postponed as a result of anti-racism protests in the United States – and almost four months after Google made the system preview available to developers . The trial version of the new Android can now be downloaded on smartphones from the Pixel 2, and will be available for more phones in the coming weeks.

Among the features available in the Android 11 Beta is a new way to manage notifications. The system places all alerts regarding conversations from messaging applications in a dedicated area, in order to facilitate the viewing of chats. It is also possible to mark a conversation as a priority, so that it appears on the locked screen of the cell phone even if the option «Do not disturb» is activated in the new Android.

Another highlight of the test version of Android 11 goes to the possibility to activate notifications in bubble format. The new function uses the Bubbles feature, originally announced on Android 10, and allows you to reply to messages without leaving the application being used, as is already the case with Facebook Messenger. When you touch the bubble, a balloon opens for the conversation without having to interrupt the current task.
Android 11 also brings, in its trial version, features to manage smart devices in a connected home. By pressing and holding the smartphone’s power button, it is possible to access controls to regulate the temperature or turn on the lights, avoiding the need to access individual applications. The menu of the new Android also includes payment methods or boarding passes that are registered on the phone.

As an improvement in the privacy of users, Android 11 now allows the granting of a single permission to access sensitive resources such as camera, microphone and location. When an application requests access to the cell phone camera, for example, it is possible to allow the feature to be used only once. As a result, the app must request permission again the next time access is required.
