Google launches application that "improves" Live Photos and turns them into GIFs

The resource Live Photos it was one of the big news of the iPhone 6s. This is something very interesting for some situations, such as pictures of children, pets, moving scenes (such as the sea, waterfall, amusement park), among others.

Despite a Live Photo can be viewed on Macs and iGadgets older, only iPhones 6s, 6s Plus and SE can take such photos. But it is precisely in the visualization that the feature sins. Some social networks (like Facebook and Tumblr) already allow sharing of Live Photos, but only those with an iPhone can see this type of content. For these and others there are dozens of apps on the App Store to transform Live Photos in animated GIFs, making it easier to view / share these images.

Google's Motion Stills App

Today, Google decided to join this game and launched the Motion Stills.

As I said, several apps already do what Motion Stills does. But the idea of Google going beyond the simple feature of making Live Photos more social: besides being able to combine several Live Photos to create a "video", there is a heavy intervention of Google technology, all properly explained in this post when applying a violent stabilization, in order to make your photos even better.

In my quick tests here I noticed that, to reach this magical result, there is a loss in the content of the photo itself because Google technology gives a kind and zoom in the image to then crop it, in order to be able to apply this stabilization. This may not happen in all the photos, but here, that's exactly how it went.

It is worth mentioning that the app is only available for iOS and works on top of an Apple own feature showing that Google really invests in Ma's mobile platform. On the other hand, the company made it clear that everything is just a laboratory to test widely technology and, who knows, integrate everything into Google Photos.
