Google Latitude conquers one million users

According to information from Google’s Vice President of Engineering, Vic Gundotra, in his Keynote during Mobile World Congress 2009, Google Latitude, launched a few weeks ago, has already reached the milestone of one million users.

Launched on February 4th, the Google Latitude presents an easy way to share your exact (or nearby) location with your friends, if they also agree to share this information with you.

“You can use your Google account to easily invite your friends to Latitude through your existing contact list or email address. Google Talk is integrated with Latitude, so you and your friends can update their status messages, their profile picture and see what everyone else is doing. You can also make a call, send an SMS, chat via Google Talk or send emails without any need to leave the application ”explained Google.

The service can be accessed through the address and is currently available for Android, Blackberry, Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile, and should soon also arrive on the iPhone.
