Google is testing a new type of device – at least in its hardware range. After having developed traditional Chromebooks, detachables and tablets, the American giant is now developing laptops with two touch-sensitive displays.
"Palkia" is the name of the conceptual device that is helping the company to break new ground in this chapter. The device is referred to in the Chromium code as having two screens – one inside the lid and the other base.
At a time when there are more and more smartphones with multiple screens, it is normal that Google is also testing this format. In fact, there are also some portable computers with this configuration, such as the case of Omen X 2S, for example.
Note that this does not necessarily mean that the company is preparing to launch such a device. In practice, what these tests mean is that Google is preparing to respond to a project by one of the brands it works with in the Chromebook market, whether Asus, Lenovo or even, eventually, itself.
Despite not being confirmed by official channels, the project referred to in the ChromeOS code, which is accessible because it is developed in an open source regime.
