After a few months of Google's acquisition of the Waze app, the company announced that it will incorporate new app features into Maps for smartphones.
One of the features to be incorporated in the Maps app for Android and iOS in the first instance is the addition of information about incidents on the route in real time by users – ported from the Waze community. Data such as accidents, construction sites, restricted roads and traffic jams will now be made available to Maps users in the countries: United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Switzerland.
In announcing the new features, Brian McCledon, Google Maps vice president, said: "No one likes to get stuck in traffic. That's why the teams at Google and Waze are working together to bring together the best in each other. to make your daily life easier ".
Apparently Google does not intend to kill the Waze app. The Mountain View giant has also added Maps features to the app born of an Israeli startup. Google Search can now be used to find locations and destinations while browsing. In addition, Google has incorporated satellite and Google Street View imagery into the Waze map editor to make it easy for users to correct in the community.
