The company also highlights that the update is the result of a partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA), an organization specializing in cardiac care, and with the World Health Organization (WHO). The new app is now focused on two physical activity goals: minutes of movement and heart points.

Minutes of movement consist of a metric that counts the time that the user spends practicing physical activities, whether low or high intensity. The system takes into account any type of action, such as using the stairs instead of the elevator or chatting with a friend while.

Heart points aim to motivate people to practice activities that improve heart rate. You will earn one point for every minute of moderately intense activity, such as speeding up the pace while walking your dog, and double the points for more intense activities, such as running or kickboxing, according to Google's publicity material.

For the calculation, sensors present on the smartphone, smart watch or fitness bracelets are used. If the device does not have all the necessary sensors, the app will estimate the results. Google Fit has retained the features of previous versions and still allows integration with different health platforms.

Another novelty that landed with the update was the coaching system, a kind of digital personal trainer. The idea is to offer personalized tips while you take a quick walk, for example. The system also issues ways to increase the intensity of low-impact physical activities and helps users to adjust goals over time.

In addition to the new features, Google Fit gained a completely refurbished look, with the cleanest, most modern and simple interface. The update is expected to reach Android, iPhone (iOS), Wear OS and WatchOS starting this week.
