Google Drive now avoids duplicating files

Google announced a new feature in Google Drive that avoids duplicating files and folders.

Now, when you upload a file with the same name as an existing file in the service, it will be saved as a revision of the existing file.

“To prevent files from being duplicated, click on ‘Keep as separate file’ after uploading,” published the Drive team.

The company hopes that the new feature will alleviate problems involving the existence of multiple files and the difficulty of finding the latest version.
