Vic Gundotra, Vice President of Engineering at Google, demonstrated today in his Keynote at MWC an offline-capable web app for Android and iPhone that allows full access to Gmail when the device is in flight mode.

The application, described as “technical concept” by Gundotra, has HTML5 AppCache and Database standards, which makes it possible to keep on the device not only the user data as the software itself. “Development will certainly open doors to more offline-capable web applications in the future, such as Docs,” describes Engadget.
