Google confirms that Nexus S receive the new Android 4.0

Current Google Nexus S users can celebrate: Google has confirmed that the new Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, is on its way to the device and should be released in the coming weeks.

"The Ice Cream Sandwich is currently in the process of being released for Nexus S. Theoretically, the new system should work on any device that supports 2.3," said Gabe Cohen, product manager at Google.

However, due to the customizations that manufacturers often add to their products, the new version of Android may take a few months to reach other devices, including those already on Gingerbread.

Update: Regarding tablets, Motorola Xoom should be the first to receive the ICS. Availability has no connection with the fact that the company was acquired by Google, but because it works with the pure operating system, without any modification.
