Google City Tours: discover points of interest for short trips

Google Labs, Google’s new technology lab, today released a new experimental project that could become an integral part of Google Maps.

Styled as Google City Tours, the new product “helps you identify points of interest and plan trips to most major cities in the world,” explained Google. Based on existing Google Maps data, the service offers suggestions for popular places to visit, an opportunity to discover and discover interesting points.

To use the new service is very simple: just specify the location of the starting point (your location), as well as the duration of your trip and City Tours will program up to three automatic itineraries for you.

Below, an itinerary based on the region of Avenida Paulista, one of the main points of the city of SĂŁo Paulo.
