Google Chrome 8 will support Web Apps

Although Google Chrome 7 has native support for Web Apps, the Mountain View giant plans to launch the feature only in the next version of the platform, Chrome 8.

The revelation was made by a Google engineer in one of the documentation for the Chromium project. “Chrome 8 will be the first version of the browser that will bring support to the Chrome Web Store” mentions the official.

If there are no delays in Google’s timeline, Chrome 8 and the Chrome Web Store could be launched later this week.

“The Chrome Web Store will be an open market for web apps. Users will be able to install applications by adding shortcuts to the new pages tab. After installing an application, it can be integrated into the browser using advanced functionality that requires permission: local storage, user location and notifications ”explained the company.
