Google Camera may receive support for 4K60fps video soon

The website XDA Developers, in an analysis of the Google Camera 7.4 application, found that Google is working to add support for 4K video recordings (3840×2160) at 60 frames per second. The detail was discovered by the user of the website cstark27, which is also a modder of GCam, in the analysis of a version that has not yet been released for Pixel devices. The analyzed APK was shared with the site by Julio Lusson of the channel TecnoLike Plus. Among the codes it is possible to note the line that mentions "camcorder.4k60fps", a code that is not accompanied by other evidences or specifications of which devices could use the resource.

Usually praised for the quality of the photos generated through the company's application, she usually does not pay much attention to the video recording, something that may have started to change. Google is also working to add support for 24fps recording to its application, as also discovered by XDA Developers in an analysis of version 7.3 of the Google Camera application. The site comments on a speculation for the Pixel 4 not to support 4K60fps recordings, the theory that the bandwidth would not be enough on the device and that would end up making it difficult for the cameras to work.

Logitech presents StreamCam, its new camera for content producers

In an episode of The Vergecast, website podcast The Verge, Isaac Reynolds, Product Manager for the Pixel camera, explained why the Pixel 4 does not support 4K60fps. He says that there is enough bandwidth for this specification, but only for a few seconds of video. Thus, the team decided not to add the camera mode to the Pixel 4. Despite this, he says that they know that people are asking for 4K60fps and that this feedback is being heard. Therefore, it is possible that the functionality will arrive later on the Pixel 4 with some adjustments or Google may leave it to the Pixel 5, which can facilitate the development.
