Google Assistant already speaks Portuguese. Many Android users in the country have been reporting that they are already using Google's virtual assistant in Portuguese.
At Google's So Paulo event earlier this year, Google executive Ben Gomes said the tool would reach Android Marshmallow, Nougat and Android O models. And last Friday, some Android users , as our reader Ricardo Souza is already using the Google Assistant in Portuguese in Brazil:
Tonight the new Google Assistant has been made available on my smartphone. My device is a Motorola Moto Maxx, running Android 6.0.1.
The assistant's adaptation work for our native language started in 2016 and is being developed by Google's team of engineers in Belo Horizonte. This is the same team that prepared the PT version already available in the Google Allo messaging app.
Portuguese Assistant to be announced in September
The Assistant works seamlessly with smartphone system applications and features. This way, you can order a taxi via Uber or control the smart lights in your home. However, as we still don't have Google's official confirmation in Brazil about Assistant Portuguese support, I still can't confirm what features the search giant will offer in the country.
At this time, according to our contact with Google, the Portuguese Assistant is due to be announced in September. According to our readers and community members AndroidPIT, some owners of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 can already use Google Assistant in Portuguese, as well as owners of Moto Z and now Moto Maxx.
And, do you already use Google Assistant in Portuguese on your Android? What is the manufacturer and model of your smartphone?
