According to information from PC World, a small software company located in the state of Indiana, in the United States, started last Wednesday (24) a lawsuit against Microsoft, Apple and Google for alleging a possible violation of its patent “System and method for iconic software environment management“.

Cygnus said in the lawsuit that software companies would have infringed their patent by using file preview technology in Windows Vista, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. In the case of Apple, Cygnus detailed that Mac OS X, iPhone and Safari also infringe the patent.

For the law firm that represents Cygnus, new companies can join the package as soon as “other potential products show signs that are infringing this patent”.
