Google announces Gmail Priority Inbox for Android

Google has just released a new version of Gmail for Android that features priority box support. Similar to the desktop version, important messages are highlighted with important markers and separated from other emails.

“You can archive and delete conversations or mark them as unimportant from your phone. You will notice that the importance of labels follows the pattern you are used to seeing in the desktop version of Gmail, ”explains the Gmail team.

Another new feature is the possibility to customize a notification in case of priority messages. “You can now set the phone to notify, vibrate or ring only when an important message arrives. To set up go to Menu> Settings> Priority Inbox ”mentions Google.

In addition to the priority box, the internet giant highlighted the implementation of other features: a new way to switch between replying to sender, replying to everyone and forwarding; ability to send messages using the address of other providers and the ability to reply to inline messages (in the body of the previous email).

The new version of Gmail is only available for Android 2.2 (Froyo), currently found on the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Milestone 2 in Brazil.
