Google Brazil announced today that two tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro have been added to the Street View service: users can now visit the top of Morro do Corcovado to discover Christ the Redeemer and, of course, Ilha Grande.

“Users from all over the world will be able to reach the top of Morro do Corcovado, admire virtually one of the Nine Seven Wonders of the World and see the view from up there. If you have already visited the monument, you can live a new experience and explore other details of this Rio de Janeiro symbol in 360 degrees ”, published Viviane Rozolen, Public Relations Manager at Google Brazil.

To capture images of Christ, the Google team used the Trekker, a backpack equipped with the same camera system used to capture images of streets. However, this smaller device allows the search engine to be able to access places that cars cannot go to.
