Good morning, problems: 12 ″ MacBook keyboard and AirPods are causing headaches in some users

Another day, more problems involving new products – or not so new – from Apple to attenuate the minds of loyal users. Today, the honor goes to the 12-inch MacBook, as well as the (late) AirPods: both saw their owners turn to internet forums in the past few days to address possible construction and / or malfunction.

Regarding the smaller brother of Apple’s portable computers, the problem has to do with a component that already caused its share of controversy at the time of launch: the keyboard. MacBook users went to Apple’s official support forum to complain that specific machine keys would be “stuck”, without offering the same tactile feedback as before. In most cases, the key continues to function, only its (already limited) movement is compromised; some users, however, saw keys stop working entirely after the defect manifested.

The response Apple recommends on the forum is for those affected by the problem to take their machines to a store or an Apple Authorized Service Center for repair; considering that a significant part of these MacBooks are still covered by the warranty, Apple may even make the exchange if it detects a deeper defect – which ended up happening in some of the forum reports.

Some of the users, however, found that the problem could be solved (or mitigated, at least) by throwing a jet of compressed air at the keys – this is because, apparently, the culprit for the “hardness” would be the accumulation of dust or meal of food in the go between the keys and the chassis. Although it is a valid attempt, Apple does not recommend using tweezers or tools to lift the MacBook keys in this process; the minimum thickness of the machine can lead to a perforation of the battery in such an action, which would be dangerous and potentially explosive.

The other problem of the day comes from Apple’s latest product reaching consumers. Users of Apple’s official support forum as well as the website MacRumors, reported that their AirPods are disconnecting and reconnecting randomly during calls – only during them, which makes everything more strange.

The problem seems to arise, at least for now, when the AirPods are connected to a iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, and some users have suggested that the issue is more present when the phone is also connected to a Apple Watch. The fact is that the generally strong and stable connection of wireless headsets seems to have some kind of interference when in the middle of a call, although – at least in theory – communication via Bluetooth should not be affected by cell phone networks.

THE AppleInsider tried to reproduce the problem with a pair of AirPods and an iPhone 6s Plus, to no avail – however, when using the same device with a number of other Bluetooth headsets and speakers, the connection was broken sporadically during calls, which may suggest that , the problem may not be specifically with Apple headphones.

Apple has not yet commented on the case and there is no suggested solution to the problem if it manifests itself. Did you, the owner of AirPods, notice something similar during its use?
