Gmail wins Smart Compose in Portuguese; function suggests words in the email | Email

Gmail has just won the Smart Compose feature in Portuguese. The function uses artificial intelligence to learn the context of messages and to suggest words when writing emails, facilitating the process of sending messages. It will start to be released this Tuesday (9), and will be made available by Google gradually over the next few months.

Smart Compose was launched in July, during the Google Cloud Next 18 event, and was originally available only in English. In addition to Portuguese, machine learning technology has gained support in Spanish, French and Italian.

The novelty uses machine learning, based on a database with billions of common phrases to suggest words to the user. As he writes emails, the tool continually learns the context and the message makes forecasts more and more accurate. In any situation, the user can accept or reject the suggestions.

Smart Compose in Portuguese also works for people using the G Suite, a corporate suite that combines Drive, Docs and Calendar productivity applications, in addition to Gmail itself. For the time being, the exclusive function of the web versions is not available for mobile apps.
