Globalization Council meets 3rd edition on 21 November

The Monastery of Penha Longa, in Sintra, will receive, next Friday, November 21, another edition of the Council for Globalization. «The New Global Financial Framework» and «Energy Policy and Sustainable Development» are the two main topics of discussion for the 2008 edition of this meeting, which will be attended by several personalities from the business and political circles, as has been the custom .

In the third consecutive year in which it takes place, the event will have the opening of the President of the Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, and will take place under the presidency of the Prime Minister, José Sócrates. José Manuel Durão Barroso, president of the European Commission, will also be present.

Created and sponsored by the President of the Republic, in partnership with COTEC, the Council for Globalization is an informal forum that brings together top leaders of multinational companies from around the world with the purpose of reflecting and sharing the understanding of how to promote and involve people. their companies, other companies, governments, non-governmental organizations and society in general in the effort of a plural globalization.

At the first Council meeting, held on November 10, 2006, members participated in the discussion around three topics on the agenda: «The metanational advantage and the integrated company at the global level»; «Access doors and barriers to globalization»; and «Expanding the benefits of connectivity.

«Entry strategies for the 21st century», «Innovation in the global world» and «Private Equity: friend or foe» were the main themes highlighted at the meeting in 2007.
