Garmin announced the completion of the purchase of the Portuguese company Satsignal – Equipamentos de Comunicações e de Navegação, the official distributor of its products in the national market.
Under a new ownership, the company will change its name to Garmin Portugal, maintaining its location in Cacém.
With the deal, whose financial terms have not been disclosed, Garmin wants to strengthen its presence in the Portuguese market. «We are delighted to welcome Satsignal into the Garmin family and look forward to the complete integration of the company into all European operations,» said Min Kao, Garmin’s CEO, in a statement.
A global player in the field of satellite navigation, Garmin and its subsidiaries have been developing, manufacturing and marketing navigation, communications and information equipment since 1989, with the vast majority incorporating GPS technology.
The products are intended for various applications in the aeronautical, marine, outdoor & fitness, OEM and automotive markets.
