Galaxy S7 fingerprint reader should get smarter on Nougat

More news about Android Nougat running on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge comes through the test program of the previous version of the Samsung software. We now know that the South Korean manufacturer, like Google, will be able to add more functions to the fingerprint reader.

A response from the support team sent to a user who is part of Samsung’s Beta Test Program informs that the company is working to optimize the functionality for the Galaxy S7’s biometric sensor. In addition, it suggests that they could be similar to those of Google’s flagships, Pixel and Pixel XL.

So, to open or hide the notification bar, just slide up or down on top of the sensor (of course). However, we still do not have an example of this, as even those who are already using the new version of the operating system on the S7 and S7 Edge have not yet received such features.

As I mentioned in other articles, it was time for Android to bring extra features for the fingerprint reader. If you think about the screen diagonal size of smartphones sold on the market today, the optimization of the biometric sensor would make the user experience richer.

Just as we have not yet had this function made available in the Samsung test program, we have not yet confirmed the date on which the company expects to release the update. We are already on the 20th of December and, due to the holiday season, I find it very difficult for Samsung to release the OTA update still in 2016.

So, what are the extra functions that your cell phone has in the biometric sensor? Do you use third-party applications to optimize this feature?
