Samsung’s 2015 flagship and variants have undergone several system improvement updates. Both models are on Samsung’s update calendar. Update: after updating the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge to Android 7.0 Nougat, now it is the turn of the Galaxy S6 line to receive the new version of the operating system in Brazil. Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge / S6 Edge Plus – Update for Android 7.0 Nougat

This week, Samsung started releasing Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in Brazil. The update occupies 1,203.54MB and arrives Over-The-Air (OTA). The new software made the User Interface very similar to the one we have on the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

According to some of the users who have already downloaded the new version of the OS, we have a bug in Samsung Pay.

As we can see in the video review below, the Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant now have a cleaner and more intuitive UI, as well as with features like the blue light filter, the safe folder, the new camera software, optimized the use of the split screen, as well as the function to change the screen resolution and increase the battery life.

Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge / S6 Edge Plus – Update for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

The three variants of the Galaxy S6 line are already running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in Brazil. Samsung officially released the update for the Galaxy S6 Edge + variant in 2016 and the update took up 1.34GB (even larger than the version for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge) and changed the software number to G928TUVU2DPD1.

The South Korean manufacturer has released the OTA (over-the-air) update for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to users of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in the country. According to readers Eduardo Rodrigues and Márcio Dornelas, the update took 1,220.24MB and, once installed, changed the build number to MMB29K.G925IDVU3EPC6.

In terms of functionality, some changes were made to the quick settings panel, the privacy mode also received updates, making navigation a little faster, and now you can also choose and use the «Install at night» feature that will make all necessary updates are made at night.

How to update Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge / S6 Edge Plus

To check if your device already has a software update, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Open the “Config.” Application on your Galaxy S6, S6 Edge S6 Edge Plus and scroll to the end. Then tap on the last available option, “About the device”;
  • Step 2: Then tap on “Download updates manually” and see if there are any updates available. If it exists, download the necessary files and, finally, tap on “Install”;
  • Step 3: This step can take up to twenty minutes, depending on the update. When you are finished, you will see a message stating that the process was completed successfully.

Remembering that you can always download updates automatically, following the same path.
