Fuchsia? Google hires Apple engineer to launch new operating system

Former Apple engineer Bill Stevenson published Linkedin who is joining the Google team to help bring a “new operating system” to market.

Rumors about a new operating system called Fuchsia have frequently appeared in the American media since 2016, but few details have been revealed so far.

Bloomberg sources reportedly said that Fuchsia will be launched on connected devices (eg Google Home) within three years and will likely replace / incorporate Android.

Currently, according to the publication, more than 100 search engine engineers are allocated to the development of the secret project.

«Fuchsia is now being worked on by more than 100 engineers, including veteran designer Matias Duarte, who is helping the project part-time,» revealed Bloomberg.

“Fuchsia has already caused internal disputes at least once, when Google’s advertising department clashed with engineers over some of Fuchsia’s privacy features. The ads team won this specific dispute, according to one person ”.

Stevenson has significant experience with cloud services like Find My Mac and iCloud for Mac and is expected to lead the launch of the platform to the public.
