Organized by the Technological Plan Office and the ODF Alliance, the Free Software and Open Standards Conference will take place on the 7th and 8th of November at LNEC. Registration for the conference is free and the intention is to guarantee a model that allows the sharing of good practices and the discussion on the adoption of free software.
The themes of the first day cover the various areas where free software is being used in Portugal, from Public Administration to education, including the debate on the importance of free software for accessibility.
Under discussion will also be the view of software companies on open standards, a panel that promises controversy, as usual.
During the conference, the free software good practice portal will also be presented at the AP, which aims to encourage the sharing of information and knowledge regarding the application of free software solutions in Public Administration.
The meeting had its first edition in 2006, which took place at Torre do Tombo, but this year it is associated with the event «The Future of Digital Documents», co-organized by the ODF Alliance, and which will take place on 8 November.
The program can be consulted at http://www.planotecnologico.pt/document/Software_Livre_AP_2007.pdf and enrollments are made by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
