France Telecom announced a Public Tender Offer over Telia Sonera. The incumbent Frenchman is prepared to pay SEK 282.9 billion or EUR 30 billion for the Swedish company, in which he had already expressed interest last April.

The realization of interest in the company results in an offer to the company, which is also the result of a merger between Telia and Sonera, of SEK 63 per share, equivalent to 6.7 euros. The value represents a 17 percent appreciation compared to the closing price of the company’s shares in yesterday’s session, according to the financial press.

On completion, the deal will give rise to the third largest European operator. It should be noted that at the date of France Telecom’s announcement of interest in Telia Sonera, the French company had a market capitalization of 54 billion euros, which added to a value of 24 billion euros attributable to Telia Sonera, today higher than 6 billion euros.

Since the beginning of the year, Telia Sonera’s intention to find a buyer was public.
