The Fernandes Costa Prize, 2004 edition, was publicly presented today, an award that distinguishes the most outstanding works in the area of information technology and the use of information systems and technologies in Public Administration. The 2004 edition of the Descartes Prize (as previously designated), gave awards to four works and seven honorable mentions.
Of the 27 works submitted to the competition, the first prize was awarded to the Geographical Information System of the Municipal Property Tax – SIGIMI, by Maria Gabriela Gomes Tavares Pinto and Graciosa Martins Delgado Caetano Martins, from the Directorate-General for Informatics and Support to Services Tax and Customs.
With the Fernandes Costa Prize – General Directorate for Public Administration, two works were distinguished, one relating to the Information System to support administrative offenses (SISCO), and also the Information System of the Administrative and Tax Courts – SITAF, authored by Institute of Information Technologies in Justice ,.
The fourth prize, Fernandes Costa – Knowledge Society Agency, went to DigitArq’s work from the digital archive to the user, authored by the Porto District Archive, awarded for its contribution to the development of the Information Society and the knowledge of the country’s archival heritage.
