Fortnite for Android now available on Google Play

Epic Games, developer of Fortnite for Android, announced that the game is now available for installation from the Google Play Store.

Due to a disagreement between Epic and the Seeker, Fortnite required users to download it independently as an APK.

The imbroglio between both involves the practice of Google to demand billing via Play Store, being labeled «illegal» by the producer.

However, Fortnite is now available on the Google Play Store.

Epic Games would have come to the «conclusion» that it is very difficult to distribute an application on Android outside the Google Play Store.

Check out the company’s statement:

“After 18 months of operating Fortnite on Android outside the Google Play Store, we came to a basic conclusion:

Google disadvantages software outside of Google Play, through technical and commercial measures, such as scary and repetitive security pop-ups, featuring third-party software sources such as malware, and new efforts such as Google Play Protect, which can completely block software obtained outside the Google Play store.

“For that reason, we launched Fortnite for Android on the Google Play Store. We will also continue to operate the Epic Games App and Fortnite outside of Google Play. ”

“We expect Google to review its business policies and transactions in the near future, so that all developers are free to enter and trade with customers on Android and the Play Store through open services, including payment services, which can compete on a level playing field ”.

«Fortnite for Android will continue to be distributed outside the Google Play Store, but users will have the same experience – with the addition of Google Play billing – by downloading it from the Play Store».
