Microsoft confirmed the hiring of a former Yahoo executive to manage its business unit in the Internet area, in an action seen as another reinforcement of its strategy against rival Google.
The computer giant said in a statement that the new services director online of the company is Qi Lu, as has been speculated for several months in the blogosphere.
The executive left Yahoo in August, where he served as executive vice president for search and advertising. At Microsoft, he will respond directly to Steve Ballmer, the company’s CEO.
