Flaws put Google hardware at risk

The past few days have certainly not been easy for the crisis management team at Google: the second generation of Pixel has been making a lot of negative headlines in the American media.

Among the most reported problems is the device’s screen that would have “muddy” colors and grainy textures in low light environments.

In response, Google said it could make corrections through updates:

“We designed the Pixel screen to have a more natural and accurate interpretation of colors, but we know that some people prefer more vivid colors, so we added an option to increase colors by 10% for a more saturated display. We are always looking at people’s feedback on Pixel and we will look into the possibility of adding more color options through a software update. ”

A few days later, another bomb: a Twitter user reported seeing a «burn» (known as burn-in) on his Google Pixel screen.

Again, Google replied that it is analyzing the problem:

“The Pixel 2 XL screen was designed with advanced POLED technology, including QHD + resolution, a wide range of colors and a high contrast ratio for beautiful, natural colors and renderings. We put all of our products through extensive quality testing prior to the launch and manufacture of each unit. We are actively investigating this report ”.

Now, to make matters worse, a Reddit user claims to have received a defective unit in a completely sealed package.

“I cut the seal, opened the box and was greeted with a blue sheet of paper informing that the unit had ‘cosmetic damage’. Here is a picture I took, ”said the author.

Is Google having a quality control issue?

Many American websites have now suggested to their readers that they avoid buying the Pixel 2 XL, or try to choose the smaller version of the device – which, so far, is free of negative reports.
