Instant Transcription

Instant Transcription is a Google application that transcribes audio in real time, while your smartphone is recording. The app is developed by the Google Research laboratory and works as a kind of experimental version of Google Recorder, a recorder that debuted on Pixel 4 and works in a similar way. It can help students who need to take classes without taking their attention away from the explanation, or journalists who want to save time in decoupling interviews.

When you open the app, it starts recording immediately and starts to transcribe the audio on the screen. The text can be stored for up to three days and it is possible to configure several listening languages. Regarding the app present on Google’s mobile phone, audio storage is missing in conjunction with the transcript. For iPhone, there is Transcribe – Speech to Text.

On-call sleepers can use the Shake-it smart alarm clock to wake up on time. The application for Android and iPhone works in a curious way: when it starts ringing at the scheduled time, it only stops if the user, for example, shakes the phone numerous times or yells at the phone for a certain period. It is also possible to configure a surprise action, which forces the person to have to read the commands and think what to do before acting. The promise is that, with these tricks, the user will be forced to wake up to silence the alarm.

Transcriber and Audio to Text for WhatsApp

Transcriber for WhatsApp, for Android, and Audio to Text for WhatsApp, for iPhone, are applications that can save time for those who usually receive many voice messages on WhatsApp. Both listen to the audio in silence and transform the content into text that can be read in a few seconds. The function avoids listening to audios that are too long at inopportune moments and allows you to write down important information that is said. In addition, transcription is one of the ways to circumvent the blue check in audios.

In both systems, just configure the language and share an audio received with the application to see the transcript on the screen. On Android, just select «Transcribe» on the upload screen. On iOS, you need to make sure that the «Audio to text» option appears in the sharing menu before sending.
