PowerPoint is an Office suite tool for creating and playing presentations. Impress is a tool in the LibreOffice program also aimed at creating slide presentations. The biggest advantage of this program is that it is free and can be downloaded even on USB sticks, because it is very light.

In addition, the program also brings interesting and similar features to Microsoft, such as saving the file in PDF and a variety of ready-made templates. The disadvantage is that the interface is not as interactive and can be a little uncomfortable at first, especially for those who are used to PowerPoint. Presentations is a tool specialized in creating and editing FreeOffice slide shows, developed by the company SoftMaker Office. It is a feature that has a free version, with a layout and functionality very similar to PowerPoint. However, the available templates are limited compared to other programs, such as Sway and LibreOffice’s presentation tool.

It stands out as an option for Linux operating systems and is also available for Windows and macOS computers. It can also be accessed on Android smartphones, despite being a limited experience, as the interface on this device is confusing.

Sway is a Microsoft application that has all the features of PowerPoint and still integrates new online technologies. Available on the Windows Store, the application has a responsive interface, providing the user with a tool to share the presentation with other members, add resources from online platforms (YouTube, Dropbox, Twitter) and integrate files into the cloud.

In addition, it is extremely easy to put together a presentation on Sway, it has a wide variety of layouts available to use on the slides and allows the user to write a «storyline», facilitating the reasoning of the project. However, the program does not have great compatibility with the operating systems. It can be used only on devices with Windows 10, Xbox One or the web version in any browser.

5. OpenOffice presentations

The Presentations program, from Apache OpenOffice, specializes in creating presentations in several formats, including slides. The software is completely free, easy to use, offers advantages such as the possibility of creating animations, inserting texts, spreadsheets, tables, graphs, among others. Despite offering most of the tools in the Office Package, the interface is not visually attractive and has limited options for layouts for the slides, making up the biggest disadvantage of the program. Slides is available for Windows, Mac and Linux devices.
