Kaspersky Lab announced, on the 9th, that the first Trojan-SMS for smartphones running the Android Operating System was detected.
The plague, called Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a, infects equipment by requesting the installation of a simple Media Player.
The Trojan, which has only 13KB and whose extension .APK (Android standard), starts sending messages without the user's knowledge for services that charge for its use (something similar to the Champion Torpedo), and the amount charged goes to the criminal.
For Denis Maslennikov, Mobile Research Group Manager at Kaspersky Lab, with the increase in sales of equipment running Android, “we can expect a corresponding increase in the amount of malware that will target the platform”.
It is worth remembering that there have been isolated cases of Droid Phones infected with spyware since 2009.

According to the website guardian.co.uk, Google issued the following announcement about the Trojan:
“Our permit application model protects against this type of threat. When installing an application, users will see a screen that clearly explains what information and system resources the application is allowed to access, such as the user's phone number or sending an SMS.
Users must explicitly approve this access in order to continue with the installation, and can uninstall applications at any time. We always advise users to install only trusted applications. In particular, users should exercise caution when installing applications outside the Android Market. ”
