First art installation based on the ARKit platform will debut in Miami on December 5th

The noise of ARKit undeniable.

After being announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017 in June, Apple's augmented reality platform starred in a series of impressive demonstrations and, with the launch of iOS 11, has made the eyes of millions of users worldwide with useful (or not), fun or simply intriguing applications.

Now, the platform is crossing another border: that of art.

O Prez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), one of the largest centers of modern and contemporary art in the American city, announced a new installation by the visual artist Felice Grodin which will be based on Apple tools and ARKit as one of the artistic display methods.

The exhibition, dubbed Felice Grodin: Invasive Species, described as ā€œvirtually interactiveā€ and can be viewed by visitors with iPhones and iPads with the PAMM application installed.

There are four "digital works of art", in the form of fantastic creatures, which can be seen in specific points on the outside of the museum, interacting with the beautiful building of the institution and its surroundings composed of gardens, terraces and water mirrors.

The idea, as stated in the installation book, "to highlight the transformative and unstable state of our ecosystem, speculating about a not too distant future affected by climate change and dominated by strange creatures".

The PAMM view opens on the day December 5th and it stays there until April next year.

The museum also states that it is planning other exhibitions based on Apple's augmented reality platform, meaning whether or not ARKit is here to stay.

Even in aspects of our lives that we never imagined.
