Firefox addons: How to find and install the best extensions | Browsers

Firefox addons are software that expands functions, changes the look, or adds features to the browser. You can find free or paid download options at the official browser store. Addon types include: themes, which allow you to change interface colors and designs, and plugins, which, for example, allow you to integrate a new language pack into your browser.

Most of the addon options available are extensions, small programs with functions ranging from enhancing the YouTube experience and creating a readable layout, to managing passwords, controlling working time and enabling online antivirus to thousands distributed across 15 different categories. Here's how to explore addons and install in Mozilla browser.

Step 1. Access the Firefox addon store by typing the URL into the "addons.mozilla.org" address bar (without quotes). The site features themes to change the look of the browser, as well as plugins and extensions that bring new functions. Press the Extenses option to start exploring;

Step 2. Choose one of 15 categories to filter the search;

Step 3. You can also search for keywords in the search field at the top: enter the term to see extensions suggestions automatically;

Step 4. When opening a list of addons, use the filter panel on the side to arrange the view. You can, for example, show the highest rated downloads first;

Step 5. Choose an extension to access a page with more details. Take a good look at the right panel that shows number of users and ratings, as well as an average of grades given by users. In general, the larger the installed base, the more likely the software is to be good and worth testing;

Step 6. When selecting an item, be it a theme, plugin or extension, press the Add to Firefox button to download;

Step 7. Immediate installation: When the download finishes, the browser displays a notification requesting a last permission to enable the software. Select the Add option;

Step 8. Installed Extenses get a cone in the browser toolbar. Typically, just click on the button to start using its functions. J themes and plugins are applied on time;

Step 9. All addons can be managed in the Extenses item of the Firefox menu. To access it, choose the "Extras" option from the menu in the upper right corner of the browser.
