As always, as soon as Apple launches a new iPhone, one of the first questions that arise: after all, which model does the company send National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to be approved and sold here in Brazil?
Well, before entering this merit, here is a very useful message: at the end of 2015, Apple took a long-awaited step and started supporting any iPhone model in our territory. This means that, regardless of the model you buy on a trip, it will be guaranteed in Brazil for a period of one year after the date of purchase. Shortly after implementing this for the iPhones 6s and 6s Plus, it also extended support for the iPhones 6, 6 Plus, 5s and 5c purchased in the USA.

It is to be imagined, then, that this policy will continue in practice for iPhones 7/7 Plus. Therefore, you can purchase the new device anywhere in the world that can be supported by Apple Brazil normally. Just to emphasize: if everything continues as it is and Apple does not change it, obviously.
Still, there are people who like to avoid a possible headache and buy the exact same model that will be sold here. You know how, “just to be sure”. And what would that model be, then?
Analyzing this page from Apple where it provides information of compatibility of the models of iPhones with 3G / 4G networks, we see that there are three models of iPhone 7 and three of iPhone 7 Plus. Luckily for us, this division of models seems to be very clear:
- A1660 (iPhone 7) and A1661 (iPhone 7 Plus): models with CDMA technology, which will be sold by Sprint and Verizon in the USA (and by other smaller / regional operators). They will also be marketed in China, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
- A1778 (iPhone 7) and A1784 (iPhone 7 Plus): models with GSM technology, which will be sold by AT&T and T-Mobile in the USA. They will also be sold in Europe and Asia.
- A1779 (iPhone 7) and A1785 (iPhone 7 Plus): models with CDMA technology, which will be sold for the time being only in Japan.
It is worth noting that * all * they are happily compatible with the Brazilian 4G (most national operators use the frequency of 2,600MHz, known as band 7).
That said, no one can guarantee 100%, but, analyzing the scenario above, it is easy to risk that the models A1778 (iPhone 7) and A1784 (iPhone 7 Plus) they will be the ones approved here in Brazil precisely because they are the most global. Historically, devices marketed in the USA by AT&T and T-Mobile are also just those sent here, if I remember correctly, the only exception was the iPhones 5 and 5s, a time when 4G was still in its infancy here in Brazil and support the bands / frequencies on the iPhone, more limited.
So, even though I no longer have to worry about that considering that Apple offers a guarantee for any model here in Brazil, these must be the models that will be officially marketed here.
