The social networking apps Facebook, Instagram and Messenger provide fun filters and masks in augmented reality to make selfies even more creative on mobile. The effects are themed and can present characters from series, cartoons, travelers, puppies, cat ears and even hippie style.
The feature is available as part of the Stories / Stories / My Day function, which allows you to post for 24 hours, but the photos can be saved in the mobile gallery. Stories on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp: all about the missing photos
Step 1. Open Facebook on your phone and select «Camera» at the top left of the app. Then, tap the camera button to switch to the front lens and select the «magic wand» to find the masks and filters.

Step 2. Select the 3D mask you want, among the fun themes, and register the photo by touching the central button. On the next screen, save the image in the phone’s gallery under the «Save» button. With this, you can share later on other networks or send to friends.

Step 3. To complete, there is an «Effects» button that allows you to add fun filters and borders. Select the one you prefer and check the result in real time. If you want to post the photo also in your Story or send it to Facebook friends, select the white arrow button.

Step 4. Check the option «Your story». It is also possible to select contacts individually to send privately via Facebook. Share on the blue arrow button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 1. Open Instagram on your phone and select the Stories camera button at the top left of the screen. Then, tap the circular arrow button to switch to the front camera (selfie) and select the mask button, indicated by a smiling emoji.

Step 2. Select one of the 3D masks available on Instagram and register the photo using the central button. At the end, you can save the image on your phone, using the «Save» button. Take the opportunity to apply filters by dragging the screen to the right and left. Touch «Next».

Step 3. The result can be posted directly to «Your story» or sent privately in conversation with friends and groups. Select the one you prefer and tap «Send».

Step 1. Open Facebook Messenger and select the camera in «Add to your day». Then click on the top button to open the front camera and tap the «star» button to view the fun masks.

Step 2. Choose one of the masks in augmented reality and register the photo in the central button. The user can save the selfie result directly on the cell phone with the «Save» button.

Step 3. If you prefer, add extra effects using the categories on the screen. To finish, select the white arrow button. You can send it individually to friends in the Facebook Messenger conversation or post to your Day. Select the one you prefer and confirm with the blue arrow button.
